InMed Pharmaceuticals’ INM-901 Shows Promise in Preclinical Alzheimer’s Study

InMed Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NASDAQ: INM) has announced promising preclinical results for its investigational drug, INM-901, as a potential treatment for Alzheimer’s disease. The study highlights significant reductions in markers of neuroinflammation and neuronal damage, reinforcing the drug’s potential to address key pathological processes in Alzheimer’s disease.

1. Reduction in Neuroinflammation:

INM-901 demonstrated a dose-dependent and statistically significant decrease in pro-inflammatory cytokines, including TNF-α, IL-1β, and INF-γ, associated with disease progression in Alzheimer’s.

2. Neurodegeneration Marker Improvement:

The study showed a significant reduction in neurofilament light chain (NfL) levels in plasma. Elevated NfL levels are a biomarker for neuronal injury, and their reduction indicates potential neuroprotective effects.

3. Gene Expression Modulation:

Regulation of Glial Cell Activity:

INM-901 modulates the activity of glial cells, such as microglia and astrocytes, which play a central role in neuroinflammation. Overactivation of these cells contributes to neuronal damage, but the drug’s action helps to restore their normal function.
